Clean coal power stations use sophisticated technologies to mitigate emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases that arise from the utilization of coal. There are seven clean coal technologies currently deployed: carbon capture and storage, fluegas desulfurization, fluidized-bed combustion, integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC), low nitrogen oxide burners, selective catalytic reduction (SCR), and electrostatic precipitators.
