As Founder and Chairman of Board of Directors of Acwa, Mohammad Abunayyan has guided the company’s rise into a global leader in clean energy, water desalination, and green hydrogen. Since its establishment in 2004, he has overseen expansion into 15 countries, embedding sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence at the heart of its operating model.

With more than 40 years of business leadership, he is recognized internationally as a reference in the energy and water sectors. His focus on cost leadership and strong public–private partnerships has delivered long-term value to communities and stakeholders, while advancing Saudi Vision 2030.

Beyond Acwa, he chairs Vision Invest and Dussur, and serves on the boards of several prominent organizations in Saudi Arabia and the wider region. A strong advocate of local talent and content, he has consistently championed community impact alongside corporate growth. His leadership continues to inspire Acwa’s mission of delivering sustainable value with purpose.

Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors

Yazeed Alhumied is the Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at the Public Investment Fund (PIF). In this capacity, he oversees PIF’s expansive domestic and regional investment portfolio, including private and listed holdings. He is instrumental in driving the localization of cutting-edge technologies by attracting international strategic partners to Saudi Arabia, reinforcing PIF’s role as a primary engine for national economic transformation.

Throughout his tenure at PIF, Mr. Alhumied has served as Chief of Staff and Advisor to H.E. the Governor. He currently chairs several PIF management committees on behalf of the Governor. His extensive governance portfolio includes serving as Chairman of the National Security Services Company (SAFE) and as Vice Chairman of the Saudi National Bank (SNB), Saudi Tadawul Group, STC Group, and the Saudia Group.

Prior to joining PIF, Mr. Alhumied spent seven years at the Capital Market Authority where he headed the Mergers and Acquisitions department. His international experience includes secondments to the Securities Commission Malaysia and the UK’s Panel on Takeovers and Mergers. He began his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from King Saud University and has completed executive management programs at Harvard Business School and London Business School.

Raad Al-Saady drives Acwa’s growth, shaping expansion strategies and guiding priorities in human capital, stakeholder engagement, and long-term business development.

His career includes senior leadership roles at Abdul Latif Jameel Company (ALJ), where he served as Vice President of Mobility, and experience in Silicon Valley’s venture capital sector. With more than 20 years in the financial services and automotive industries, he brings a strategic perspective to Acwa’s leadership.

He has also held governance roles with Saudi Arabian Airlines, Morgan Stanley, and the Saudi General Authority of Foreign Trade. His ability to combine operational insight with strategic foresight has positioned him as a trusted advisor across industries. A Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Menlo College in California underpins his approach to global expansion.

H.H. Prince Sultan bin Khalid bin Faisal Al Saud is the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF). Since joining the Fund, he has held several key leadership positions, including Vice President of Credit and Deputy CEO, before being appointed Chief Executive Officer.

Prince Sultan holds an extensive portfolio of governance responsibilities. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the SIDF Investment Company and is a member of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monshaat), where he chairs the Governance, Risk, and Compliance Committee. Additionally, he is a Board and Executive Committee Member of the Misk Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors for both the Saudi Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Industrial Academy.

Earlier in his career, Prince Sultan served as General Manager of Zayzafon Investment and began his professional journey as a Petroleum Engineer at Saudi Aramco. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Bringing nearly three decades of multi-sector experience, Ibrahim Al Rajhi contributes to Acwa’s Board as a non-executive director. His career spans food and beverage, travel and tourism, logistics, real estate, construction, and education, reflecting adaptability and breadth of expertise.

He has steered organizations through growth and transformation and continues to serve on the boards of small and medium enterprises and non-profit organizations in Saudi Arabia. His leadership style emphasizes resilience and innovation, qualities that strengthen Acwa’s governance.

Academic achievements include a Bachelor’s in Systems Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, a Master’s in Management from Hult International Business School, and a Doctorate in Human Resources Management from London Metropolitan University.

With a career spanning technology, trade, and logistics, Ahmed Alhakbani serves Acwa as an independent director. He is currently CEO of Al Hulul Al Mobassatah Financial Company, and previously held senior government roles, including Governor of the Saudi Customs Authority and Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade.

Earlier in his career, he worked at Microsoft and Cisco Systems, gaining valuable experience in IT and business operations. He has also advised boards of organizations such as GASCO and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, bringing a blend of private and public sector expertise

His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Systems from King Saud University and an MBA from INSEAD. This combination of technical knowledge and management expertise equips him to provide strategic guidance to Acwa.

Omar Al-Madhi brings more than two decades of investment leadership to Acwa’s Board as a non-executive director. He currently serves as Co-Head of Direct Investments for the MENA Division at the Public Investment Fund (PIF), where he oversees opportunities in strategic sectors across Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

His career includes senior roles at Abdul Latif Jameel Investments, where he was Senior Managing Director and Board Member, leading diversification strategies that positioned the firm as a trusted investment partner. Earlier, he advised the Minister of Labor, served as CEO of Volkswagen Group Saudi Arabia, and held positions at SAGIA, McKinsey, and Saudi Aramco.

This breadth of experience reflects a strong track record in corporate growth and investment strategy. Omar’s ability to balance operational detail with long-term vision strengthens Acwa’s governance and supports its role in the global energy transition.

Omar Almidani contributes to Acwa’s Board as a non-executive director, bringing more than 15 years of leadership across infrastructure and environmental solutions. He is President and CEO of Vision International Investment Company (Vision Invest), a Saudi holding company with investments in power, water, industrial gases, district cooling, and transportation.

His leadership extends across Africa, Asia, and Europe, where he has overseen Vision Invest’s affiliates and subsidiaries. Prior to his current role, he was CEO of Beatona, a Vision Invest subsidiary focused on environmental treatment and recycling.

Omar also serves on the boards of Saudi Tabreed, Air Products Qudra, and Miahona, and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the John Molson School of Business in Montreal, Canada.

Esmail Alsallom brings financial services expertise to Acwa’s Board as a non-executive director. He is CEO of the National Infrastructure Fund, which is driving Saudi Arabia’s diversification by investing more than US$50 billion in water, transport, energy, and health over the next decade.

Before joining the Fund, he led Al Rajhi Holding Group for seven years, managing operations across building solutions, contracting, finance, industry, and real estate. Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate finance at Banque Saudi Fransi, advising on major projects and transactions.

Esmail holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from King Saud University. His ability to combine technical knowledge with financial leadership ensures Acwa benefits from both strategic and operational insight.

Abdullah Abduljabbar serves as a non-executive director on Acwa’s Board, bringing more than 24 years of experience in investments, banking, advisory, and capital markets. He is CEO of Sanabil Investments, where he oversees strategic growth and portfolio diversification.

He chairs SNB Capital and Performance 54 Group, and sits on the boards of Savvy Gaming Group, Richard Attias & Associates, Caffeine Inc., AlHilal Club Company, and the FII Institute. His earlier career included senior roles at Sada Investment & Consultancy, Al Bilad Bank, and the Saudi Capital Market Authority.

Abdullah earned a Bachelor of Economics and Political Science from California State University, USA, and completed Chase Manhattan Bank’s Credit Training Program in New York. His leadership combines financial acumen with strategic foresight, strengthening Acwa’s governance and long-term vision.

Sheila Khama adds deep expertise in mining and natural resources policy to Acwa’s Board as an independent director. With more than 25 years of leadership, she has worked across strategic planning, concessions, mergers and acquisitions, and sustainability.

She served as CEO of De Beers Botswana and held senior roles at Anglo American Corporation, building her expertise in aligning business objectives with industry needs. Later, she led programs at the African Development Bank and World Bank Group, delivering initiatives across Africa, Central Asia, and Latin America.

Sheila has advised organizations including Columbia University, the University of Oxford, the UN Sustainable Development Network, and the African Union Commission. She is also an associate fellow at Chatham House.

Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree from the University of Botswana and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh. Sheila’s global perspective and policy insight enriches Acwa’s approach to sustainable growth.

Skills and experience, Liming Chen adds global corporate experience to Acwa’s Board as an independent director. With more than 30 years of leadership across energy, technology, and manufacturing, he has consistently driven transformation and innovation in multinational organizations.

He recently completed his tenure as Chairman of the World Economic Forum Greater China, where he focused on fostering regional collaboration to address economic and societal challenges. Previously, he served as Chairman of IBM Greater China Group, leading a major shift toward cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at BP China, including President of Greater China and Chairman of BP (China) Holding Company, where he played a pivotal role in re-establishing BP’s upstream energy presence in the country.

Liming has also held leadership positions at Condea Chemie GmbH and Sasol China, and continues to serve on boards such as BASF’s Supervisory Board. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Xinjiang Shihezi Agriculture College and a master’s from Cornell University, complemented by executive education at Harvard Business School.
