Kangal Solar Power Plant

The Kangal Solar PV Project is a 1,000 MW solar PV development in Sivas, Türkiye, being developed by Acwa as part of Türkiye’s large-scale renewable energy expansion.The project is being developed within the framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) signed between the Republic of Türkiye and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 3 February 2026, establishing a framework for the development of 5 GW of renewable energy projects in Türkiye.

On 20 February 2026, Acwa signed the Investment Agreement Key Terms with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye and the Power Purchase Agreement Key Terms with Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (EÜAŞ) for the Kangal Solar PV Project. Under the agreed framework, Acwa will develop, finance, construct, commission and operate the 1,000 MW solar power plant.The project will contribute to Türkiye’s renewable energy ambitions by adding significant utility-scale solar generation capacity, strengthening energy security and supporting the country’s transition towards a cleaner and more diversified energy system, in line with Türkiye’s ambitious renewable energy goals and its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2053.
