Kom Ombo PV

Kom Ombo PV

ACWA Power signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Government of Egypt on 6th April 2021 to develop, finance, construct and operate the Kom Ombo photovoltaic (PV) plant (officially titled 1 x 200 MW KOM OMBO Solar PV Power Project). The plant generates 200 MW AC and it has been completed on 8 July 2024. ACWA Power submitted the lowest tariff contracted to date for a solar energy project in North Africa (2.47 Cent USD/kwhr). Kom Ombo PV will cater to the power needs of 130 thousand households and offset 280 thousand tons of carbon dioxide per year. The construction and development of the Kom Ombo plant bolsters the efforts of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to increase the overall capacity of renewable energy to 20% by 2030.
