Shuaibah 3 IWP

Shuaibah 3 IWP

Shuaibah 3 IWP is to construct seawater desalination plant based on Reverse Osmosis technology. The project is located in the region of Shuaibah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The capacity of the potable water production is 600,000 m3/day using Reverse Osmosis (RO). Seawater will be extracted from the seawater intake system by Seawater Supply Pumps (SSPs) and transported to RO membranes through Dual Media Filters and Cartridge Filters. Power requirement for the plan will be fed from the Grid-SEC and Captive Solar PV (65 MWp).

The project was awarded to ACWA Power led consortium which include 68% stake of ACWA power and 32% stake of WEHC (PIF). The financial closure achieved on October-2022 and it planned for commercial operation by May-2025. The Project cost is 821 MUSD. The project is the first conversion project from MSF desalination technology to SWRO, which in line with the KSA vision 2030 in terms of achieving Zero carbon emissions, Fuel saving and Increased plant availability.
